0 over the road vs regional vs local when your reality changes because your otr paycheck is cutWith new changes that take place. some drivers may find themselves in a situation where they can not make the same amount of money over the road as they used to. Some companies will be doing computerized logs and if Washington doesn’t wake up all trucking companies will end up using computerized logging. (If I am understanding things right.)

This will be a serious problem.

Companies will lose drivers and then go out of business.

Soon companies will realize that they need to pay drivers more.
Then they will charge shippers and receivers more.
Then manufacturers will charge the public more.

What congress should be doing is forcing trucking companies and manufacturers to work out their differences on delay time and compensation better and then force trucking companies to compensate the driver properly.

This will help to eliminate the unnecessary wasted time at shippers and receivers which is the root of the problem.

    I tested a …
I tested a paperless log system for my company and found that I actually gained anywhere from 20-40 minutes to drive each day, depending on how long I ran. That was because instead of logging in 15 minute increments, the electronic log worked minute to minute. It actually bought me a little more time. We didn’t go with the system which is good. I don’t need a babysitter in the truck, I’m a grown man and a responsible person. I’m perfectly capable of keeping myself legal.

    I don’t understand …
I don’t understand why people say “cut the drivers out of the miles” when you talk about doing a logbook LEGALLY. They should not have been getting those miles anyways, if they would have followed the laws like they were suppose to. I have a hard time showing sympathy for those who don’t follow the rules, thus making them unsafe. It’s always about safety

I understand what your saying though. Priorities always change, and if the money isn’t worth the risk to go OTR, then don’t!!! 5 stars.
